    Summary

    Accurate phototherapy dosing requires careful measurement. A single electronic dosimeter reading in an empty cabinet does not reflect actual ultraviolet radiation dose received at diverse skin sites during treatment.

    Background:

    • Phototherapy is a common treatment for various skin conditions.
    • Accurate dosimetry is crucial for effective phototherapy and monitoring cumulative ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure.
    • Existing methods for measuring UVR dose may not accurately reflect patient exposure.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the accuracy of a single electronic dosimeter reading in representing the UVR dose received at different skin sites during phototherapy.
    • To determine if dosimetry in an empty treatment cabinet correlates with actual patient skin dose.

    • 212 photoresponsive dosimeter badges were attached to a volunteer's skin.
