Control of a single degree of freedom artificial hand

A commercial single degree of freedom artificial hand has been fitted with touch, slip and position sensors, which permit low-level control tasks to be performed by a microprocessor; little conscious effort is required by the wearer. Hardware and software for the microprocessor system are described.
