Summary

Encapsulated papillary carcinomas (EPCs) are rare breast tumors. This case highlights the imaging features of this uncommon intraductal papillary lesion, often challenging to diagnose.

Background:

Papillary lesions of the breast encompass a spectrum of pathologies.
Their diverse radiological and histological findings present diagnostic challenges for radiologists.
Encapsulated papillary carcinomas (EPCs), or intracystic papillary carcinomas, are a specific subtype of intraductal papillary lesions.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe a rare case of encapsulated papillary carcinoma (EPC) of the breast.
To illustrate the characteristic imaging features of EPCs.
To enhance the understanding of diagnostic challenges associated with papillary neoplasms.

Main Methods:

Case presentation of a patient with a painless right breast lump.
Review of radiological imaging findings.
Histopathological correlation.

Main Results:

The case presented a rare encapsulated papillary carcinoma.
Imaging features were analyzed and correlated with histopathology.
The non-specific nature of findings in papillary neoplasms was re-emphasized.

Conclusions:

Encapsulated papillary carcinoma is an uncommon breast malignancy.
Accurate radiological and pathological assessment is crucial for diagnosis.
Awareness of EPCs' imaging characteristics aids in timely and correct diagnosis.
