Are predictive saccades linked to the processing of peripheral information?

Athletes use predictive saccades, or eye movements, to anticipate object trajectories. This study finds that continuous smooth-pursuit eye movements (SPEMs) are sufficient for prediction, and predictive saccades do not enhance performance.
