Abstract:
In today's society, there is an exponential increase in the diagnosis of chronic diseases due to genetic, psychological, social and environmental factors. Fortunately, the growing medical specialization makes people live longer, but at what price? This qualitative study was carried out from May 2022 to July 2022. 10 people (8 women and 2 men) aged between 18 and 70 years who were diagnosed with chronic disease were interviewed. In this study, the correlation between quality of life and the way to react to stressful events was observed. Two self-report questionnaires were administered: the Short-Form (SF-36) Health Survey to measure health status and health-related quality of life and the Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (COPE-NVI), a tool for measuring coping styles and a semi-structured interview to assess the impact of the disease on quality of life.
