Dermatomal Granulomatous Dermatitis and Vasculitis Following Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus
Journal of Drugs in Dermatology : JDD
|October 11, 2022
Abstract:
Cutaneous granulomatous dermatoses are uncommon sequelae of herpes zoster (HZ) infection that have been documented in the literature, with granulomatous vasculitis described in rare cases. Here, we report a patient with HZ ophthalmicus who developed edematous plaques with central scarring in a V1 dermatomal distribution with histopathological changes of a granulomatous dermatitis including features of granulomatous vasculitis. Skin Diseases and Disorders

Skin is the first line of defense and encounters a variety of microbes. Some pathogenic strains are often the cause of a broad range of infections of the skin and other body systems. These conditions can affect people of all ages and may have different causes, including genetic factors, infections, autoimmune reactions, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices.

Reticular Dermis
2.7K
The papillary and reticular dermis are the two layers of the dermis. They are made of connective tissue with fibers of collagen extending from one to the other, making the border between the two somewhat indistinct. The dermal papillae extending into the epidermis belong to the papillary layer, whereas the dense collagen fiber bundles below belong to the reticular layer.

Open Angle Glaucoma: Treatment
527
In open-angle glaucoma, the iridocorneal angle remains open, but the trabecular meshwork becomes stiff, slowing down the outflow of aqueous humor. This causes a buildup of aqueous humor in the anterior chamber, leading to a sudden increase in intraocular pressure. The treatment for open-angle glaucoma focuses on reducing the elevated intraocular pressure by either decreasing the secretion of aqueous humor or increasing its outflow.
