    Summary

    Urinary stents significantly reduce postoperative complications in women undergoing transverse colon conduit urinary diversion for gynecologic cancer. Stenting lowered rates of leaks, fistulae, and strictures, improving patient outcomes.

    Background:

    • Urinary diversion is a common procedure for gynecologic cancer patients.
    • Transverse colon conduit is a frequently used diversion technique.
    • Postoperative urinary tract complications can significantly impact patient morbidity.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of ureterocolonic junction stenting on postoperative urinary tract complications.
    • To compare complication rates between stented and non-stented groups in transverse colon conduit urinary diversion.

    • Retrospective analysis of 75 women undergoing transverse colon conduit urinary diversion.
    • Comparison of complication rates (leaks, fistulae, strictures, pyelonephritis) between a stented group (n=37) and a non-stented group (n=38).
