Background:

  • Maxillary canine impaction occurs in 1-5% of cases.
  • Surgical-orthodontic disinclusion is a common treatment approach.

Observation:

  • A diode laser was used for surgical-orthodontic disinclusion of a palatal impacted canine.
  • An orthodontic bracket was applied simultaneously.
  • The procedure resulted in a dry field, facilitating bracket adhesion.

Findings:

  • The diode laser enabled effective surgical-orthodontic disinclusion.
  • The patient reported no pain or swelling post-procedure.
  • The impacted canine was successfully moved into the correct arch position.

Implications:

  • Diode laser technology offers a viable alternative for impacted tooth disinclusion.
  • Minimally invasive laser treatment can improve patient outcomes.
  • This technique integrates seamlessly with orthodontic treatment planning.
