    Area of Science:

    • Nephrology
    • Urology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis affecting medium and small arteries.
    • PAN commonly impacts kidneys, heart, and gastrointestinal tract, but ureteral involvement is rare.

    Observation:

    • This case details secondary hydronephrosis due to PAN lesions in a ureteral segment.
    • Associated findings include sclerolipomatosis, periureteritis, and functional ureteral stenosis.

    Findings:

    • The study presents a unique instance of PAN manifesting as ureteral obstruction.
    • Periureteritis and sclerolipomatosis in the ureteral vicinity are infrequent manifestations of PAN.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the understanding of PAN's potential urological manifestations.
