Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze left and right ventricular strain patterns in MVD patients.
  • To investigate associations between right-sided valve lesions and aortic/mitral valve disease.
  • To evaluate the role of strain imaging in MVD assessment.

Main Methods:

  • Included 72 patients with moderate to severe MVD.
  • Assessed conventional 2D echocardiography and tissue deformation imaging parameters.
  • Analyzed left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LV GLS) and right ventricular (RV) strain.

Main Results:

  • LV strain parameters (including GLS) were preserved.
  • RV strain parameters showed mild reductions (RV GLS total: -19.49 ± 6.08%).
  • Conventional parameters (LA dimension, TAPSE, RVSP, IVC) showed significant associations with MVD combinations, unlike strain parameters.

Conclusions:

  • Ventricular strain parameters are reliable markers of myocardial dysfunction in MVD.
  • RV strain is important for assessing various MVD combinations.
  • Strain patterns may vary based on the specific valves involved in MVD.
