  • A questionnaire survey of 248 advanced lung cancer patients in Japan.
  • Free-text responses to "what is the most important thing to you now?" were collected at diagnosis and 3 months later.
  • Responses were categorized, and associations with clinical characteristics and quality of life measures were examined.

  • Family (50.5%) and daily life (33.0%) were the top priorities at diagnosis.
  • Prioritizing daily life correlated with higher quality of life scores (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lung) and better mood (lower depression/anxiety).

Conclusions:

  • Family and daily life are paramount for advanced lung cancer patients.
  • Integrating patients' focus on daily life into care plans can enhance quality of life and mood.
