Endometrial carcinoma detection with 3.0 Tesla imaging: which sequence is more useful

Accurate detection of endometrial cancer (EC) is vital. This study found that ZOOMit and conventional diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) best assess myometrial invasion, while T2WI and dynamic contrast-enhanced T1WI are better for tumor size in EC management.

- Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps were analyzed, and all sequences were compared to post-hysterectomy histopathology.
Main Results:
- No significant differences in myometrial invasion were found between DWI, ZOOMit DWI, and DCE-T1WI (p=0.054, p=0.039).
- Strong correlations were observed between DWI and ZOOMit DWI (0.943) and between ZOOMit DWI and DCE-T1WI (0.949).
- No statistically significant differences in tumor size were found between sequences or compared to histopathology. ZOOMit DWI's ADC values differentiated EC histological subtypes.
Conclusions:
- All MRI sequences are valuable, with varying priorities based on information needs.
- ZOOMit and conventional DWI are most valuable for assessing myometrial invasion in EC.
- T2WI and DCE-T1WI are more valuable for determining EC tumor size.
