Summary

Monitoring foraminifera communities using DNA metabarcoding is key for marine ecosystem health. A new cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COI) marker in bulk-DNA metabarcoding accurately identifies foraminifera diversity, outperforming environmental DNA (eDNA).
