Insights
Hypertriglyceridemia (THG) is linked to more comorbidities in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. This includes higher rates of diabetes, heart disease, gout, and cerebrovascular disorders in CKD patients with THG.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Nephrology
- Metabolic Disorders
Context:
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects millions globally.
- Hypertriglyceridemia (THG) is a common lipid abnormality.
- The interplay between THG and CKD complications requires further investigation.
Purpose:
- To investigate the association between hypertriglyceridemia (THG) and left ventricular remodeling in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Summary:
- 152 CKD patients (stages 1-3) were analyzed: 98 without THG and 54 with THG.
- Comprehensive assessments included anthropometry, hemodynamics, lipid profiles, uric acid, calcium, CRP, cystatin C, vascular stiffness, and echocardiography.
- CKD patients with THG exhibited significantly higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, gout, hypertension, and cerebrovascular disorders compared to those without THG.
Impact:
- Findings highlight the increased comorbidity burden in CKD patients with hypertriglyceridemia.
- This suggests THG may exacerbate cardiovascular and metabolic complications in CKD.
- Early identification and management of THG in CKD patients could potentially mitigate adverse outcomes.
Aim:
To assess the relationship between hypertriglyceridemia (THG) and left ventricular remodeling types in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD).
Materials And Methods:
A total of 152 patients with CKD from stages 1 to 3 were examined, 98 of them with CKD without THG (subgroup 1) and 54 with CKD and THG. All patients were assessed for the parameters of anthropometry, hemodynamics, lipid spectrum, uric acid, calcium, C-reactive protein (CRP), and serum cystatin C measurement with calculation of glomerular filtration rate. The parameters of vascular stiffness (augmentation index and stiffness) and echocardiography are analyzed.
Results And Discussion:
In the 2nd subgroup (CKD + THG), the number of patients suffering from type 2 diabetes, a stable form of coronary heart disease, gout, and their combination with hypertension, as well as cerebrovacular disorders and hyperuricemia was significantly higher compared with patients with CKD without GTG (p.
