Preoperative ManagementThe primary goals of preoperative management in kidney transplantation are to optimize the patient’s metabolic state and prepare them for surgery through diet adjustments, necessary dialysis, and tailored medical treatment. This phase also involves comprehensive infection screening and patient education about the surgical procedure and postoperative care to improve outcomes and adherence.Medical ManagementA comprehensive evaluation is required for both the living...

    Summary

Cyst formation after connective tissue grafting is rare but can occur in the maxilla, unlike previous cases. Complete surgical excision is recommended for treatment and to prevent recurrence.

    Area of Science:

    • Periodontology
    • Oral Surgery

    Background:

    • Gingival grafting is a common procedure in periodontics.
    • Lesion formation post-grafting presents a clinical challenge.

    Observation:

    • A unique case of cyst formation following connective tissue grafting in the maxilla is reported.
    • Previous similar cysts were only documented in the mandibular labial lateral-canine space.
    • Cysts appeared 9-18 months post-grafting, with some draining via sinus tracts.

    Findings:

    • This is the first reported instance of such a cyst in the maxillary region.
    • The clinical presentation, history, and location suggest a limited differential diagnosis.
    • Complete surgical excision is proposed as the definitive treatment.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the known locations for post-grafting cysts.
    • Highlights the importance of considering this rare complication in the maxilla.
    • Surgical excision offers a curative solution with no anticipated recurrence.
