[Immunostimulating property of GABA]
The influence of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) on specific immunity indexes has been studied in in vitro and animal experiments. GABA was shown to facilitate the appearance of Thy-I-antigen on the surface of mouse bone marrow cells and stimulate immune response of mice to thymus-dependent antigen (SRBC). However, GABA had no effect on the immune responsiveness to thymus-independent Vi-antigens in these animals.
