This study introduces an enhanced MULTIMOORA method using a 2-tuple spherical fuzzy linguistic set (2TSFLS) to address complex mining method selection. The novel approach effectively handles uncertainty in multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problems.
Area of Science:
- Decision Sciences
- Mining Engineering
- Fuzzy Logic Systems
Background:
- Mining method selection is a critical, complex decision-making process.
- Existing methods struggle with uncertainty and vagueness inherent in expert judgments.
- Multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) is often required for these complex choices.
Purpose of the Study:
- To propose an extended MULTIMOORA method integrated with a 2-tuple spherical fuzzy linguistic set (2TSFLS).
- To develop a novel approach for handling uncertainty and vagueness in MAGDM problems within the mining sector.
- To enhance the representation of expert judgments using the combined strengths of spherical fuzzy sets and 2-tuple linguistic term sets.
Main Methods:
- Development of the MULTIMOORA method under 2TSFL conditions.
- Creation of a normalized Hamming distance measure and score function for 2TSFLSs.
- Application of the proposed method to a real-world case study: selecting a mining method for the Kaiyang phosphate mine.
Main Results:
- The proposed 2TSFLS-based MULTIMOORA method effectively handles uncertainty in decision-making.
- Demonstrated applicability and realism through a practical mining selection example.
- The method shows superior performance compared to existing approaches in similar MAGDM scenarios.
Conclusions:
- The developed MULTIMOORA method within the 2TSFLS framework is a robust and efficient tool for MAGDM problems.
- The integration of SFSs and 2TLTSs provides a powerful way to represent expert linguistic assessments.
- This approach offers a comprehensive solution for complex decision-making challenges in mining design and other fields.
