Erythema multiforme major in a patient treated with carbamazepine

A bipolar patient is described in whom erythema multiforme major, or Stevens-Johnson syndrome, developed after treatment with carbamazepine. The systemic and dermatological manifestations and some of the known causes of the syndrome are discussed.
