Continuing education needs of biomedical communicators

Many authors speak of the need for health care professionals to attend continuing education workshops. This study sought to identify the continuing education topics and program characteristics preferred by alumni of the Biomedical Communications Division in the School of Allied Medical Professions at The Ohio State University (OSU). Results indicate a preference for topics which do not review material constituting the basic biomedical communications curriculum. Although the sample population was small and the author is aware of the problems associated with generalizing from the data, the data were helpful in planning continuing education workshops.
