Summary

Surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) offer excellent jugular paraganglioma control. SRS showed fewer complications like cerebrospinal fluid leaks and lower cranial nerve palsies compared to surgery.

Background:

Jugular paragangliomas are rare tumors requiring effective treatment strategies.
Comparing surgical resection and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is crucial for optimizing patient outcomes.

Conclusions:

Both surgical intervention and SRS provide excellent tumor control for jugular paragangliomas.
SRS may be preferred due to a lower incidence of specific postintervention complications, including lower cranial neuropathies.
