Summary

This study reports a rare case of incarcerated epigastric hernia containing the stomach. Emergency hernioplasty successfully managed this infrequent condition, highlighting a unique surgical challenge.

Background:

Epigastric hernias commonly involve preperitoneal fat or omentum.
Intra-abdominal organ herniation is uncommon, typically involving the small bowel.

Observation:

A rare case of incarcerated epigastric hernia was observed.
The hernia sac contained the stomach, a highly infrequent finding.

Findings:

The stomach was incarcerated within an epigastric hernia.
This represents one of the few reported instances of gastric content in an epigastric hernia.

Implications:

This case expands the understanding of potential contents in incarcerated epigastric hernias.
Emergency hernioplasty is a viable treatment for this rare presentation.
