Bacterial infections are common in cirrhosis patients. An antimicrobial stewardship program (SAVE) reduced multidrug-resistant organism infections, though overall infections increased, highlighting the need for surveillance.

- Enhanced clinical surveillance is crucial to identify colonized patients and prevent MDRO spread in cirrhotic patients.
