Abstract:
Retraction: "Downregulated long noncoding RNA LINC00313 inhibits the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and migration of thyroid cancer cells through inhibiting the methylation of ALX4," by Xingzhi Zhao and Xinhua Hu, J Cell Physiol. 2019; 20992-21004: The above article, published online on 15 May 2019 in Wiley Online Library (https://doi.org/10.1002/jcp.28703), has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal's Editor-in-Chief, Prof Dr Gregg Fields, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed after the authors stated that unintentional errors occurred during the research process, and the experimental results cannot be verified. The investigation, based on allegation by a third party revealed duplications and an image element of the experimental data published elsewhere in a different scientific context. As a consequence, the consider conclusions of this article are considered invalid.
Insights
This study on thyroid cancer cell migration and invasion has been retracted due to unintentional research errors and data duplication. The findings are now considered invalid.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
Context:
- The original study investigated the role of long noncoding RNA LINC00313 in thyroid cancer.
- It explored the potential of LINC00313 as an inhibitor of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and migration.
- The research focused on the mechanism involving the methylation of ALX4.
Purpose:
- To examine the inhibitory effect of downregulated long noncoding RNA LINC00313 on thyroid cancer cell progression.
- To elucidate the molecular mechanism by which LINC00313 affects epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and migration.
- To assess the role of ALX4 methylation in this process.
Summary:
- The article "Downregulated long noncoding RNA LINC00313 inhibits the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and migration of thyroid cancer cells through inhibiting the methylation of ALX4" has been retracted.
- Retraction was based on unintentional errors in the research process and unverified experimental results.
- An investigation revealed data duplications and image inconsistencies, invalidating the study's conclusions.
Impact:
- The retraction invalidates findings related to LINC00313's role in inhibiting thyroid cancer cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and migration.
- This impacts the understanding of potential therapeutic targets and mechanisms in thyroid cancer.
- The scientific community must disregard the conclusions presented in the original publication.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open....
