Summary

A new sterile, single-use duodenoscope enables safer endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. This disposable device minimizes infection risk in both sterile and non-sterile environments, enhancing patient safety during ERCP.

Background:

Traditional endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) relies on reusable, non-sterile duodenoscopes.
This poses a risk of patient-to-patient infection transmission, particularly in non-sterile settings.

Observation:

A novel sterile, single-use duodenoscope has been introduced.
This report details its application in four diverse ERCP cases.

Findings:

The single-use duodenoscope facilitates nearly sterile perioperative transgastric and rendezvous ERCP.
It effectively eliminates the risk of cross-contamination between patients.

Implications:

The disposable duodenoscope offers significant advantages for ERCP safety in various clinical settings.
