Summary

A rare splenic lymphoma (PS-DLBCL) mimicking an abscess was identified. This CD30-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma presented unusually, requiring splenectomy for diagnosis and treatment.

Background:

  • Primary splenic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PS-DLBCL) is a rare malignancy confined to the spleen.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report a unique case of PS-DLBCL presenting with an abscess-like appearance.
  • To highlight the diagnostic challenges posed by CD30 expression in this rare lymphoma.

  • Clinical presentation of a 62-year-old patient with flank pain and abdominal distension.
  • Initial imaging and drainage misinterpreted the splenic mass as an abscess.
