[New organizational forms of basic prenatal care. Report of experiences following 5-year use]

A new form of antenatal care, introduced in 1981, is reported. It is based on a division of labour between doctor and midwife and demands an increasing number of consultations, vaginal control of the cervix in the period of advanced danger of premature delivery and includes a short psycho-prophylactic programme. The results reached from 1981 up to 1985 are reported and the essential points of the new system of antenatal care have been discussed.
