    Area of Science:

    • Orthopedic Surgery
    • Traumatology
    • Podiatric Medicine

    Background:

    • Subtalar joint dislocations are rare injuries.
    • These injuries can occur with or without associated fractures.
    • Closed dislocations, without associated fractures, are particularly uncommon.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To report the outcomes of treating closed subtalar joint dislocations.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of conservative management for these injuries.
    • To assess patient recovery and return to work after treatment.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of 10 cases of subtalar joint dislocation.
    • All cases were closed dislocations without associated fractures.
    • Conservative treatment modalities were employed for all patients.

    Main Results:

    • Ten patients with closed subtalar dislocations were treated.
    • All 10 patients achieved successful recovery.
    • All patients were able to return to their previous work activities.

    Conclusions:

    • Conservative treatment is effective for closed subtalar joint dislocations.
    • Subtalar joint dislocations without fractures have a favorable prognosis with non-operative management.
    • Prompt recovery and return to function are achievable outcomes.
