Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the utilization patterns of XR and CT scans among NH residents in New Brunswick.
  • To evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of implementing mobile radiography services for NH residents.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective analysis of all XR and CT investigations for NH residents in two Saint John hospitals during 2020.
  • Data collected included patient origin (NH vs. other), imaging type (XR/CT), and care setting (emergency department/outpatient).

  • The majority of investigations (75.6%) were ordered during emergency department (ED) visits.
