Cultured CD71+ erythroid cells modulate the host immune response.

Cultured red blood cells (RBCs) derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) enhance T cell proliferation. Mature cultured RBCs also inhibit inflammatory cytokine production in whole blood assays.
