    Summary

    Nitrofurantoin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective for treating urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women and for chemoprophylaxis. However, its use is limited due to potential adverse reactions and poor serum concentrations, especially in patients with renal insufficiency.
