Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine primary care providers' experiences with the eOncoNote system implementation.
  • To assess how eOncoNote access influenced communication between PCPs and cancer specialists.
  • To understand the perceived value of eOncoNote from the PCP perspective.

Main Methods:

  • A web- and text-based asynchronous system (eOncoNote) was implemented in Ottawa, Canada.
  • System usage data were collected and analyzed for 76 shared cancer patients.
  • An end-of-discussion survey was administered to PCPs to gauge perceived value.

  • Only 39% of PCPs responded to initial eOncoNote messages, with most sending only one.
