- The patient's condition, characterized by severe hyponatremia and hypokalemia with persistent mucous diarrhea, was diagnosed as McKittrick-Wheelock syndrome.
- Pathological examination confirmed a tubulovillous adenoma as the cause of the syndrome.

- McKittrick-Wheelock syndrome is a rare but serious complication of large bowel adenomas.
- Clinicians should consider this syndrome in patients with persistent diarrhea and severe electrolyte abnormalities, especially hyponatremia and hypokalemia.
