Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate cortical and subcortical morphological differences in women with PPD.
  • To identify specific brain regions affected by structural changes in PPD.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized high-resolution T1 structural MRI data from 29 women with PPD and 23 healthy postpartum women (HPW).
  • Employed surface-based morphometry to analyze cortical thickness, local gyrification index, and deep gray matter nuclei shape.
  • Correlated imaging findings with Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores.

Main Results:

  • Women with PPD exhibited increased cortical thickness in the left superior frontal gyrus, cuneus, right lingual gyrus, and fusiform gyrus.
