Ethical Standards II

739
Ethical standards are the backbone of nursing practice, guiding nurses as they interact with patients, families, and colleagues. These standards are crucial for providing safe, empathetic care centered on the patient's needs.
Nurses are entrusted with upholding various ethical principles and standards. Nurses forge solid therapeutic relationships using trust, empathy, autonomy, confidentiality, and professional competence.
Confidentiality is crucial, embodying respect for individual privacy...

Data Collection I

6.4K
Data collection gathers information needed to make accurate judgments about a patient's present condition. During a health history interview, subjective data is collected from the patient, their caregivers, or family members, and objective data is collected through observations and physical assessment. Patients are the primary source of subjective data. Thus information gathered from patients through interviews, observations, and physical examination is primary data. Secondary sources of...

Ethics and Bioethics

1.4K
Ethics is a philosophical study of moral actions. Ethics attempts to determine what is valuable for individuals and society. It examines the rational justification of moral judgments and analyzes what is morally just, fair, and right. Bioethics is a sub-discipline of applied ethics that analyzes the philosophical, social, and legal issues in life sciences and medicine. Ethical theories serve as a foundation for decision-making and represent the viewpoints from which people seek direction. They...

Issues And Trends In Healthcare Delivery System

5.7K
The issues and trends in healthcare delivery are constantly changing. The COVID-19 pandemic is one recent issue that wreaked havoc on healthcare systems, causing a shortage of healthcare workers, high demand for medicines and supplies, and increased medical expenditure due to a lack of insurance. Other issues include rising healthcare costs and care fragmentation.
Cost Containment
Payment for healthcare services has historically promoted adoption of costly and often unnecessary or inefficient...

Current Trends in Nursing II

1.3K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Area of Science:

  • Healthcare technology
  • Digital health
  • General practice innovation

Background:

  • Increasing pressure on healthcare systems due to aging populations and complex illnesses.
  • Digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) offer potential solutions for general practice.
  • Patient concerns regarding health data sharing and trust in AI implementation exist.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore patient perspectives on trust in the patient-general practitioner (GP) relationship.
  • To understand patient views on sharing health data for AI development in general practice.
  • To investigate patient attitudes towards the implementation and use of AI in general practice.

Main Methods:

  • Qualitative interviews with 10 patients in the North Denmark Region.
  • Use of written vignettes to explore unfamiliar topics related to AI.
  • Thematic analysis of patient perspectives on the patient-GP relationship, data sharing, and AI.

Main Results:

  • High patient trust in their GP and willingness to share health data.
  • Patients perceive AI as a valuable support tool for GPs.
  • Patients emphasize the importance of the GP remaining the primary decision-maker.

Conclusions:

  • Patients may consent to health data sharing for AI implementation in general practice.
  • Positive patient reception of AI in general practice is likely if the patient-GP relationship is maintained.
  • AI implementation should focus on supporting GPs while preserving the established patient-GP dynamic.
