Background:

The global healthcare sector significantly contributes to climate change through emissions.
Nurses' environmental practices can positively influence environmental impact.
Identifying these practices and associated factors is crucial for mitigation.

Purpose of the Study:

To identify environmental practices of nurses at work and home.
To determine factors associated with nurses' environmental practices.

Main Methods:

Cross-sectional descriptive study.
Survey of nurses from two public hospitals in Lambayeque, Peru.
Utilized the Nurses' Environmental Awareness Tool.

Main Results:

106 nurses participated; average age 41.
Over half reported appropriate energy use (51%) and recycling (53%) at work.
High implementation of environmental biosafety (89%); associations found between age/employment years and practices.

Conclusions:

Nurses demonstrate a positive tendency towards adequate environmental practices.
More research is required to identify factors that enhance nurses' adoption of these practices.
