Peripheral natural killer (NK) cells are decreased in anti-MDA5+ dermatomyositis (DM) patients, with lower counts linked to disease activity and mortality. These NK cells also show an inhibitory phenotype, suggesting impaired function in anti-MDA5+ DM.
