A new possibility to analyse urinary proteins: isoelectrofocusing with immobilized pH gradients

As a new method for the analysis of proteinuria isoelectricfocusing with immobilized pH gradients is introduced. Ths new approach has several advantages over the conventional methods. The applicability is demonstrated by analysing the long-term changes in proteinuria of a 5/6 nephrectomized rat. Soon after 5/6 nephrectomy, a glomerular pattern of protein excretion predominates which later on is followed by a tubular pattern.
