Is Imaging Bacteria with PET a Realistic Option or an Illusion?

Positron emission tomography (PET) with [18F]FDG can detect inflammation but not specific bacteria. While novel tracers show promise, [18F]FDG-PET remains the primary tool for identifying infection evidence.
