    Summary

    Overwork increased muscle weight in normal and partially denervated rat soleus muscles, but did not enhance tetanic tension. Denervation prevented overwork-induced muscle hypertrophy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of synergistic tenotomy-induced overwork on partially denervated rat soleus muscle.
    • To assess changes in muscle weight and isometric tetanic tension after partial denervation and overwork.

    • Forty-nine rats underwent partial denervation (L4 or L5 root transection) and synergistic tenotomy.
