Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if RLL on preoperative radiographs predict component loosening in shoulder arthroplasty revision.
  • To identify specific zones and risk factors associated with RLL and loosening.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of preoperative radiographs from 93 shoulder arthroplasty revisions.
  • Correlation analysis of RLL presence, location, and number of zones with intraoperative findings.
  • Evaluation of demographic factors and prior surgery history.

Main Results:

  • RLL around the humeral component strongly correlated with loosening (p < 0.001).
  • RLL in two or more zones, particularly distal zones 3 and 5, significantly predicted loosening.
