    Summary

    Systemic sclerosis patients with Raynaud's phenomenon showed cold-induced myocardial perfusion abnormalities. This suggests distinct vascular differences compared to other rheumatic diseases associated with Raynaud's phenomenon.

    Background:

    • Raynaud's phenomenon is common in systemic sclerosis and other rheumatic diseases.
    • The cardiac involvement and vascular differences in systemic sclerosis remain incompletely understood.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate myocardial perfusion differences in patients with systemic sclerosis versus other rheumatic diseases presenting with Raynaud's phenomenon.
    • To assess the impact of cold challenge on cardiac ischemia in these patient groups.

    Main Methods:

    • Utilized 201thallium scintigraphy to evaluate myocardial perfusion.
    • Administered a cold challenge to patients with systemic sclerosis (n=10) and other systemic rheumatic diseases (n=10).
    • Excluded patients with pre-existing cardiac disease.

    • This study supports the hypothesis of distinct vascular pathologies in systemic sclerosis.
