Objective:
Improper placement of the ventricular catheter tip is the most common cause of shunting disorders after ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) placement surgery. Here, through two illustrative cases, we described a novel method of precise ventricular catheter tip location.
Methods:
Three-dimensional (3D) Slicer software was used to define the ventricle puncture path and determine the ventricle catheter tip location preoperatively, and the 3D individualized guide model was printed.
Results:
The ventricular puncture was performed under the guidance of the 3D guide to achieve precise ventricle catheter tip location intraoperatively.
Conclusions:
This technique is safe, simple, efficient and cost-effective, which facilitates its clinical implementation and promotion.
