    Summary

    During eye inflammation, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) levels in the aqueous humor decrease as leukocytes infiltrate. Activated leukocytes consume vitamin C, suggesting its protective role against inflammation-induced oxidative stress in ocular tissues.
