[Peroral contraceptive agents and arterial hypertension]

The authors' task was to follow up the effect of the peroral contraceptives upon arterial pressure. The study was carried out on 94 females, aged from 20 to 40, distributed in age groups of five years with approximately equal number. Their studies reveal a comparatively early development of hypertonic reaction after the initiation of the medication in a rather high percentage of the females--14.89. The elevation of arterial pressure is in a direct correlation with the age and lipid metabolism. The changes in arterial pressure are mainly on account of the systolic pressure and in direct correlation with the medication, since the values of arterial pressure were normalized after the discontinuation of the contraceptives. Follow up care is recommended to those females with a frequent checking of their health state.
