Background:

The Modified Rush Video-Based Tic Rating Scale (MRVS) is widely used for Tourette syndrome (TS) tic severity assessment.
Limitations include unclear instructions, lengthy recording, and weak correlation with the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale-Total Tic Score (YGTSS-TTS).

Purpose of the Study:

To revise the MRVS into MRVS-R, simplifying and standardizing assessment.
To enhance the correlation between MRVS-R and YGTSS-TTS.

Main Methods:

102 videos of TS patients were analyzed.
MRVS-R was developed by reducing recording time to 5 minutes and adapting anchor values.
MRVS-R psychometric properties and correlation with YGTSS-TTS were compared to MRVS.
