[Appendicular cystic pneumatosis. Apropos of a case]

The case of a 3-year-old girl with pneumatosis cystoides of the appendix is reported. Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis is an uncommon disease, particularly in the appendiceal localization and in the young child. Despite of the benign nature of the disease, we emphasize the need of an early diagnosis by systematic histological examination of the removed appendices. The etiopathogenesis is obscure.
