    Summary

    Computerized tomography (CT) scans reveal that early findings of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) predict patient outcomes. CT scan results are more valuable than clinical grading for predicting recovery after cerebral aneurysm treatment.

    Background:

    • Ruptured saccular cerebral aneurysms can lead to subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).
    • Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are crucial for managing SAH.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative computerized tomography (CT) findings in patients with ruptured saccular cerebral aneurysms.
    • To compare the predictive power of CT findings with clinical grading (Hunt and Hess) for patient outcomes.

    • A consecutive series of 100 patients with ruptured saccular cerebral aneurysms were studied.
    • All patients underwent diagnosis and surgery within 72 hours of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).

    • Morphological preoperative CT findings are valuable prognostic indicators in ruptured saccular cerebral aneurysms.
    • CT scan findings may be superior to clinical grading in predicting patient outcomes.
    • Early CT assessment aids in tailoring treatment and predicting recovery after SAH.
