    Summary

Congenital tortuous vertebral arteries can erode cervical bone, causing treatable radiculopathy. Awareness is crucial to prevent misdiagnosis as a tumor and surgical complications.

    Area of Science:

    • Neuroscience
    • Vascular Surgery
    • Orthopedic Surgery

    Background:

    • Cervical bone erosion is a rare condition.
    • Congenital vascular anomalies can impact skeletal structures.

    Observation:

    • A case of cervical bone erosion caused by a tortuous vertebral artery is presented.
    • Seven additional cases from the literature are reviewed.

    Findings:

    • The C3-C4 level, particularly on the left, is the most frequently affected site.
    • This condition results from direct pressure by the aberrant artery.

    Implications:

    • Accurate diagnosis is essential to avoid mistaking this for a tumor.
    • Prompt surgical intervention can treat associated radiculopathy.
    • Careful surgical planning is necessary to prevent iatrogenic bleeding.
