[Prediction of adult height: methodologic possibilities and their limitations]

Three main approaches for estimating a child's mature height, including skeletal age are in common use: Bayley-Pinneau, Roche-Wainer-Thissen and Tanner (i.e. TW Mark 2 Method). Principles and fundamental differences are demonstrated. The acceptance of the methods is discussed as well as the practicability of each system. In addition, the relative accuracy, possibilities of errors and the limitation of all systems to pathologic conditions are considered.
