Asymmetric bilateral traumatic hip dislocation: Report of two cases

• Case 1: A 20-year-old male with a 7-month neglected condition treated with bilateral total hip arthroplasty (THA).
• Case 2: A 32-year-old male with acute right anterior open hip dislocation and left posterior fracture-dislocation, managed with emergency debridement, open reduction, and fixation.

Findings:

• This is the first reported instance of open anterior hip dislocation with femoral head exposure in the context of asymmetric bilateral hip dislocation.
• The study demonstrates successful surgical interventions for both neglected and acute presentations.

Implications:

• Asymmetric bilateral hip dislocation often results from high-energy trauma.
• Open injuries with exposed femoral heads can occur in these rare cases.
• Total hip arthroplasty is a viable treatment option for long-term neglected cases.
